Wanna be friends?

If you like swopping book reviews, why not friend me on Goodreads
I’m gradually building up an online list of every book I’ve got crammed on shelves, or in boxes in the loft.

Send me some suggested reads on Twitter:

"If you don't have time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that."

Okay, so no pressure or anything, but Stephen King clearly has a point.  And yet no matter what I do, my ‘to read’ pile invariably looks like this.  In fact, at the moment, the fiction side of it looks exactly like this.  I buy books faster than I can read them, and then feel guilty about the way they are piling up around our ears.

So recently, when we were in the middle of moving house, I made yet another resolution about my reading habits.  I decided to make some new rules for once the dust from the move had settled, and this time I’d stick to them (I know, I know, but just humour me for a minute, will you?)

The New Rules (which are suprisingly similar to the old ones...)

  1. (i)Find a book group to join (thanks to my friend Kaye, this rule has already worked and I’ve found a great group)

  2. (ii)Alternate one book in English and one book in French, as much as possible.

  3. (iii)Life is too short to stick with a book I’m not enjoying just because I should read it.

  4. (iv)Keep a reading journal so that reading can be a tool as well as a joy.

  5. (v)Remember that adding books to my Amazon wishlist feels a lot like buying them.

  6. (vi)Use Roman numerals so it’s less obvious how few rules there actually are on my list.
