Work In Progress

I recently completed work on a crime novel set in Paris.  It’s called This He Did Without Remorse.  When a young Bosniak woman tries to take revenge for crimes perpetrated against her mother, events soon spiral out of control.  Read more.

I’m currently researching a psychological suspense novel with the working title Blood Harmonies.  It’s set in London and is about a young violinist who finds a dark secret from her past suddenly building to a devastating reprise.  Read more.

In addition, I’m developing a screenplay entitled Hate Mail, about a love triangle which goes murderously wrong during a clandestine weekend in Vienna.

Although I now concentrate full-time on fiction, I did my apprenticeship as a pen-for-hire...

Radio Drama  I’ve produced a handful of radio dramas for both BBC Radio 4’s Saturday Afternoon Play, and CBC’s flagship slots, Sunday Showcase and Monday Night Playhouse. Read more.

Advertising I got my first break in1986, when the creative boutique ad agency, Marr Associates in Edinburgh took me on as a copywriter.  Over the years my work has won awards and appeared internationally.  Clients have included Stella Artois, Linn Hi-Fi and Persil.

Academic Publications & Translation In the mid-90s I spent a few years in France doing postgrad work, and published in both French and English, on the poets of the French Resistance.  While there I also picked a fair bit of weird and wonderful translation jobs. 

Freelance Journalism  My work has appeared in titles ranging from The Independent to What Digital. Affectionately referred to by some as the Hello of hi-fi, my colour pieces on key figures in the industry, and the rich and famous who bought their gear appeared regularly in the late 90s and early 00s in Home Cinema Choice.

TV Documentary & Film I’ve had projects in development with both film and TV companies, (including BBC Films and Scottish Screen).
